In the episode, the contestants are divided into two tribes: North Island and South Island. They face their first challenge, which involves building a raft and racing to a nearby island to retrieve a fire-making kit. The winning tribe gets to choose their campsite, while the losing tribe has to make do with the leftovers. The episode also introduces the hidden immunity idols, which can be used to save oneself from being voted out at tribal council. The contestants also get to know each other better and form alliances and rivalries. At the end of the episode, one contestant is voted out by their tribe and becomes the first person eliminated from the game.
